About
About Jen Grauer:
In 1988 Jen and her family moved from Alaska to Colorado, where her addiction to the sun quickly took hold.
Skiing led her to a mountain college where she earned a BA in History with a minor in Elementary Ed and developed a great group of friends, now affectionately known as BASC (Bad Ass Skier Chicks).
After six years in Colorado Springs, one year on an angus ranch and a nearly completed MAT in Integrated Natural Sciences, Jen left the world of public school teaching to write kids books.
Side tracked by sparkly graduate classes in Digital Media Studies, one full year in the real world at a marketing company in Boulder (she kept waiting for summer vacation), and a couple of years as a residential realtor (she found a knack for marketing and staging), Jen finally got back to her original post teaching plans and has taken up writing.
Jen is passionate about the environment (when it doesn’t require too much effort), primary education (especially science), personal development (Thich Nhat Hahn is a true inspiration!), making her surroundings aesthetically pleasing (we all feel better when things look nice) and natural health.
For more than 15 years Jen was passionate about mountain biking, hiking Colorado’s “Fourteeners”, and telemark skiing but is needing a new challenge. She owned a motorcycle for a couple of years but the guilt of not riding enough prompted her to sell it. This winter she is thinking of relearning skate skiing, after a 20 year hiatus. In preparation she is in the market for an extra set of lungs.
Currently Jen is acting as General Contractor for her and Josh’s home remodel, writing on her blogs, revising her children’s non-fiction science book manuscript, preparing her thesis project, consulting as a residential realtor and voluneering at a local kindergarten.
