Bang, Bang, Bang
September 15, 2008
Trapped in my home today with the shades pulled down and constant banging on the walls, I relinquished some control.
Today the demolition of our existing stucco began.
As General Contractor for our home remodel, and General Control Freak, I’ve been monitoring the destruction and rebuilding of our second floor… very closely. Ask me–I can explain how to header an exterior door. No, I cannot work a saw yet. As I told my friend Joy, who asked if I was going to participate in the remodel, “As a GC I just manage. I don’t actually do any of the work!”
This morning my anxiety level started increasing as I heard the banging begin but didn’t know what was going on. I was trying to relinquish control. Really, I was. When the owner of the stucco company, Denver Custom Plastering, appeared and then later asked me a couple of questions I felt better: finally, I got to step in and play GC (or at least GCF) again.
